About YouMove
YouMove is a countywide activity programme providing Oxfordshire families facing barriers to being active with free and low cost ways to be active together. Since launching in 2022, YouMove now has over 10,000 Oxfordshire residents signed up and able to enjoy a wide range of activities. In September 2024, we are delighted to announce that YouMove is expanding to include activities for under 5s, giving our youngest generations the best possible start for an active life.
By signing up to YouMove, local families can benefit from low cost or free fun activities including swimming, badminton, activity packs and a wide range of community activities near to where they live. As well as being able to enjoy being active together, families will also be supported by local Activators in each district who will provide lots of advice, support and guidance about what's on offer.
YouMove comes at a critically important time, with many Oxfordshire families hit hard by the cost-of-living crisis and serious concerns around the mental health and wellbeing of Oxfordshire's children and young people. Being able to get active in a way that works for them will help families to enjoy quality time together, have fun and improve their health and wellbeing, too.
YouMove is funded by Oxfordshire County Council Public Health and BOB Integrated Care Board and co-ordinated by Active Oxfordshire, in partnership with district councils. Leisure providers, local charities and community organisations will also play a key role in referring into YouMove and providing many of the community-based activities on offer. YouMove builds on the fantastic work of Cherwell District Council's FAST Programme and is set to make a significant difference to the health and wellbeing of Oxfordshire's children in greatest need, and their families.

YouMove expands to include offer for Early Years
In September 2024, we're delighted to be able to expand YouMove to include an activity offer for under 5s for the first time. City and district councils, together with Active Oxfordshire will work with Home Starts across the county to reach under 5s and their families at highest risk of inactivity. Under 5s and their families will be able to enjoy a wide range of free and low-cost activities including swimming, soft play, Stay and Play groups and so much more.
"My family is making great use of the card, I am going to the gym 2-3 times a month on a pay as you go scheme. The children play football every Monday evening and go swimming every Friday with Fusion!"
